I put an “I Voted” (in Ukrainian) sticker on my laptop, after coming home from casting my ballot in Tuesday’s primary here in Philly. My toddler was jealous and immediately wanted to put stickers on his laptop — the 15-year-old MacBook Air I let him beat to hell and watch episodes of Trash Truck on. He got into my sticker box and went to town covering my old stickers and adding some style and flair. He especially loved my 20-year-old Guitar Hero collection.
I’ve been listening to a bunch of music lately, so I’ll make this a themed Substack..
Here are 5 things I was looking at and loving this week:
Starting in 1984, Aadam Jacobs attended a dozen or more live shows a month, setting up his microphones and deck and audio taping the performances for his private collection. 10,000 shows later, he started digitizing that collection.
How the rise of the band Geese was because a psy op marketing campaign.
Was punk rock born in Peru?
I loved seeing Taj Mahal on Track Star.
David Byrne is Burning Down the House with Colbert on The Late Show.
Happy Friday, y’all.

As soon as I saw the words "audio taping the performances," I immediately thought of that TV episode from "What's Happening" when Rerun got caught tape recording a live performance by the Doobie Brothers. Yep, I totally dated myself with that reference.
