Here are 5 things I was looking at and loving this week:
POYi judging is underway. Congrats to Photographer of the Year Erin Clark of the Boston Globe and Sports Photographer of the Year Tess Crowley of the Deseret News. Maddie McGarvey won the Community Awareness Award for a long-term project I’ve highlighted on this Susbtack before. And Carol Guzy has won in both the Portrait and Issue Reporting Picture Story categories for her incredible coverage of ICE detainments in the US1. Powerful work, all! There’s a break in the schedule today, but they’ll be back this weekend with a couple of big categories, including International Photographer of the Year — watch live online.
I love the idea of a Think Day (or Week), but even more, I love the prompts that Sahil Bloom offers up to jump start your brain.
Watch Ukrainian photographer Igor Chekachkov talk about the influence Boris Mikhailov has had on his own photography. (Here is part 1 and part 2).
I’m obsessed with the journey of Josh and George Kohler, a father-and-son team currently cycling around the world. They just got to Chile, their 25th country2.
La Oficina = The Office en México! El tráiler se ve genial. ¡Estoy muy emocionado! (h/t to Lisa López-Lupo for this!)
