Here are 5 things I was looking at and loving this week:
Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off brought back so many fun memories of great skater haircuts and even better checkerboard shoes I saved my allowance to buy, weekends spent riding the concrete waves at Kona Skatepark, trying to emulate my cousins on their half-pipe, and renting The Search for Animal Chin on VHS tape from the local video store over-and-over again. The documentary also gets at some of the harsher realities, like how lonely it is at the top and the toll skateboarding takes — physically and mentally. 10/10 would recommend. On a related note, I think I’ve mentioned it before but… Rodney Mullen’s Ted Talk on creativity is worth watching, too.
I really enjoyed listening to Stacy Kranitz talk about her life and how it informs and is so intertwined with her work on A Small Voice Podcast. I also found it fascinating to hear her talk about this dustup from this a decade ago.
“Having a child as a freelancer has made it clear to me how precious my time is. I don’t think I have more time now, but instead I’m hyper aware of how little time I have and to make better use of it.” Photographer Hannah Yoon writes beautifully about Finding Time (for herself and what’s most important) in her latest newsletter. Subscribe, y’all.

Check out this epic timelapse of a cruise ship being built (I was curious how long the whole thing took and the Internet says: 2.5 years. “The build started in October 2019 and the vessel was christened in April 2022.”)
