Here are five things photo-related things I’m looking at and loving this week:
This post by Kendrick Brinson about internal shifts and newfound priorities in the wake of Covid really hit home (both for me and hundreds of others) as evidenced by all of the amazing replies and introspection. I also really appreciated Hannah Yoon’s post (as well as her honest and vulnerable thoughts on pregnancy).
“Who is the NPPA?” I am.
I’m also proud to be a member of Women Photograph. Their website database just got an overhaul, with a terrific search feature and 1399 amazingly talented photographers. Support the work they’re doing, by donating here.
Loving this photo of Stevie Wonder that was making the rounds on Twitter this week. And if you don’t know photographer Al Satterwhite (Floridian, St Pete Times intern, Gator… what’s not to love?!) you should. Start with his Southern Exposure project or perhaps the Hunter S. Thompson portfolio.
And because soccer really is a beautiful game, here are 25 of the best World Cup photos as chosen nearly a decade ago by the Guardian’s sports picture editor. The first one and the last one are my favorites. But they’re all pretty great. I’ve also been enjoying Adam Pretty’s look at the World Cup, especially moments like the players’ proud moms and Mbappe scoring on Kasper Schmeichel.
