I’ve been thinking a lot about reading — as a habit — lately. My son is 3. He loves books. Craves stories. Wants to be read to over breakfast, sits in his teacher’s laps at story time during school, and looks forward to picking two (maybe three) books each night before bed. I hope this never ends. He’s got such an insatiable curiosity and need to know, and it fuels his imagination and his perceptions of the world and his empathy for and understanding of others. I love this for him.

I’m 20 books into 2026. And, I recently finished my 4th Percival Everett book of the year. He’s an author I got into after reading the Biblioracle’s post declaring, “James is great. But truth be told, it’s not the novel that I think is Everett’s best.” I also learned in that post that Everett has written over two dozen novels. So, obviously, I have more to come, because that’s a bold statement. I loved James, and so did the Pulitzer Board. Though, I have to say… Trees might be my new favorite.

I love getting snail mail, so I was delighted when The Cloud Report appeared in my mailbox this week. Artist Christine Tyler Hill is a crossing guard, and the zine is a report of her observations at the intersection.

Speaking of, did you know that you can get The Onion newspaper delivered? It makes me LOL every month, and a subscription was a really fun Xmas present.

Fields of the Gods: Mexico’s football pitches from above (are freaking beautiful!)

As a soccer fan, it was fun learning about the man behind the “Goooooooooooal!”
