Spring is springing here in Philly and it’s freaking glorious1. All I want to do is ride my bike. Adulting now means taking half days off so I can be a kid and ride.
Terrific week: I heard a joke that I’m still laughing about days later (DM me if you’d like to hear it), finished two Arundhati Roy books (her memoir Mother Mary Comes to Me and The Ministry of Utmost Happiness), listened to a lot of podcasts on my commutes, had another great pho(to) lunch2, “discovered” a new Asian food hall near the office (thanks for meeting me for lunch, Parikha!), and tried a new Indonesian spot in Philly (s/o to Sky Cafe!).
Here are 5 things I was looking at and loving this week:
The brilliant Catherine Opie dissects the intersection of life, work, and identity (as reflected across 6 decades of creativity) in Conversation with Maggie Nelson.
An incredibly worthy and powerful Pulitzer Prize for Saher Alghorra from Gaza. Ditto that for Carol Guzy’s World Press Photo of the Year.
Amen.
Apologies in advance to those friends and loved ones with allergies.
This time we tried MoonNight in East Passyunk Crossing. Their pho was really good, but their yuzu kumquat lemonade was AMAZING.
