Big ups to everyone who came out to the Bok Bar rooftop to eat tacos, drink a beverage, and watch the sunset with me last Friday. It’s easily got one of the best skyline views in Philly (see below) and seeing it with good friends - old and new - was an ideal way to celebrate another year. 10/10 recommend.

Happy Friday, y’all.
“I knew nothing about photography,” said art critic Jerry Saltz who covered the New York art world throughout the 1990s. Every opening he went to, every party and studio visit was documented with his Olympus Stylus. “I ended up making 40,000 goddamn slides1.”
Love this piece on Louis Mendes. For decades the NY streets have been his studio.
How to be Cultured. (Sigh, the answer is not very. I only got 12 out of 30 on the How Cultured Are You? quiz, which I took before starting to read the piece.)
Good advice: “Keep hold of your thread…”
The first link is paywalled. The second link for the “40,000 goddamn slides” is not. And it’s a wonderful 15-minute short that’s worth watching!

Ha 16 out of 30! As a former restaurant cook and current English teacher, I think I nailed all of the food and literature questions. Those art questions, however…
I had an Olympus Stylus when I lived in NYC. Carried it everywhere. Thousands of photos, with contact sheets! Note to self: Get out the loupe!
