Not to be confused with last week’s #photobook The Life of a Photograph, this is Sam Abell’s The Photographic Life. What’s the difference, you ask?

These Unportraits are giving me life.
I love this idea of photographers sharing their New Year’s Resolutions. Mine are to expand my creative practices and to challenge myself with new mediums. I just signed up to take both a bookmaking class and a 4x5 class and at local art centers. What are your photo resolutions? Email me, DM me, or drop your answer in the comments here, I’d really love to know.

I started a photo journal this year. I started out every day but sometimes just taking pictures when life happens is real too.
Hey, while I do still have some 'achievable' goals for the year I've moved towards much more qualitative resolutions the last couple of years. For example, last year mine was 'to be less performative'. It made me consider much more what I was doing simply for it to be seen (and 'liked') rather than was genuinely adding anything, especially on social media. As the year passed that consideration saw my social media use lessen throughout to where I'm now barely on there. So, in the same vein, my resolutions for this year are:
1. Trust my heart and my gut more, go with it, don’t overthink and let the brain rule
2. Take a risk
3. Be more open
4. Do more in service
5. Be more community orientated
Wishing you a happy and healthy year M.
