I love seeing artists’ and creative folks’ workspaces. Dan Winter’s studio is a thing of wonder filled with collectibles and curiosities. Austin Kleon’s home office has me longing for a little more room to spread out and a lot more natural light (I moved my office to the basement and that’s what I miss the most!). Andy Adams (aka FlakFoto) tweeted a photograph of his office a few days ago, and what I really love seeing is all that inspiration in the form of his bookshelf. And so, I thought I’d share a photo of mine. It’s messy, it’s packed to the gills, and it’s got some truly great #photobooks on it. But more so, I want to encourage you to show me your spaces, because I want to see them… whether it’s a detail of your bulletin board, your messy desk, the view out of your window, or your bookshelf — inspire me. Email me a photo, if I get some good ones, I’ll share them in a future newsletter.
Here are 5 things I was looking at and loving this week:
A riveting list of excuses by publications asking for free work by Dina Litovsky.
More real talk over on the @aphotoeditor IG acct. Read the comments.
This guy’s animation work is old-school and amazing. Esp. digging this one.
Keep an eye on this guy. He’s young, talented, and driven by heart and passion.
Don't forget that action leads to inspiration, not the other way around.
Oh wow, your space is beautiful in its sheer volume. By that I mean, if I could have library similarly packed but with all my favorite books, I’d be over the moon. Thanks for sharing your space ! ^_^
Found this amazing photo of Natsume Soseki's writers space I used in one of my previous emails: https://thedailydive.substack.com/p/this-writers-room-moved-me-cozy-up
