For better (there is no worse, really… no downsides as far as I can tell) I haven’t been online much this week. I went on a walk with a friend today, I’ve had a few fun jobs this past week that I’m looking forward to sharing at some point, and I’ve been fully absorbed in James McBride’s new book The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store. I also love that I have several friends who I share my Wordle and Connections scores with daily (and they with me), compete with on the NYT Mini xWord (they’ve become fun little check-ins and proof of life things!), and others I cheer for on Duolingo.
With all that said, here are 5 things I was looking at and loving this week:
NatGeo Jimmy Chin and Co. are bringing us the docuseries Photographer — featuring 7 photographers in a 6-part series (Paul Nicklen + Cristina Mittermeier, Anand Varma, Krystle Wright, Muhammed Muheisen, Dan Winters, and Campbell Addy). Their work is wide-ranging and diverse and the series takes us behind-the-scenes and up-close-and-personal. I’m looking forward to watching it.
Legendary photography agent Mark George on what to say when you’re asked to sign over your copyright.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Anne Helen Petersen’s essay The Dark Heart of Individualism since reading it in her newsletter a few days ago.
In 1997, Nora Ephron visited New York’s first Krispy Kreme. Read her review of the doughnut shop that made her “proud to be an American.”
My friend and fellow journalist Mónica Ortiz Uribe on How I Healed Post-Layoff
Another 5 things that I found really interesting. Thank you for sharing Melissa!
