Here are 5 things I was looking at and loving this week:
Digging Natalie Keyssar’s Stories of love and loss in the shadow of Ukraine’s war and hearing her speak about her work in Ukraine and more on A Small Voice podcast.
Powerful work: Voices from the tents, shelters, cars, motels and couches of America
There’s been a lot of talk this week about the two-part post on @aphotoeditor’s Instagram titled Shifting Perspectives: Kenny Hurtado Walks Away From Professional Photography. But in case you missed it, both the Q&A (which is here in full) and the comments on IG are worth reading. This industry is broken.
The Quietest Places in the Loudest Cities (Note: their rankings for loudest cities in the US struck me as odd — no NYC, really? Every other list has NYC in the top 3 — obviously. But with that disclaimer, scroll down a bit to Where to find peace and quiet near you because that’s valuable info for those of us in big, loud cities.)
Also, I love this idea. I need more friends to hang out and do nothing with. Please.
As usual, plenty of good ideas here. My favorite: hanging out and doing nothing. If only. I'm going to pass along something that is worth seeing in case you haven't already heard about it. There is some very, very good work on now display at the Katzen (at American University). An amazing photo realistic drawing by Billy Pappas (on the first floor) is the star of the current crop of shows there although there are many other interesting exhibits.
I love the last idea. As teenagers all we would do is just hang out. Why aren’t we doing this anymore? It really is sad…
